Nike: Moving the world forward through the power of sport

At Nike, the belief is simple: "If you have a body, you are an athlete." Their mission is to inspire and innovate, reaching every athlete worldwide.

They aim to propel the world forward through the transformative power of sports, breaking barriers, fostering community, and revolutionizing the game for everyone.

Collaborating with the Nike team to craft a space that embodies this community spirit was an honor, marking a significant milestone with one of the most iconic brands globally.

Signing a long-term lease for a 60,000 sq. ft building in London’s King Cross, our brief was to create a multi-functional space that could be used for events and activations, yet still, excite and cater for some of the world’s top performers in sport.

Working alongside Nike trainers, athletes, architects, and workplace specialists, BLK BOX was able to design and deliver a concept offering the flexibility of a hybrid space whilst maintaining the functionality of a high-performance training environment.

Reflecting on the collaboration, Miles Canning, Commercial Director at BLK BOX, said, “Having grown up in awe of the Nike brand and inspired by Phil Knights’ story, it was truly an honour for BLK BOX to play a small part in developing their new London HQ."

BLK BOX APEX Flooring was selected to provide a seamless and versatile solution allowing Nike Athletes to not be bound in developing & testing new training concepts, whilst still retaining the appropriate acoustic properties to mitigate sound and vibration to the offices above.

With end-to-end project management provided by BLK BOX including, design consultation, materials and install in accordance with WELL v2 standards along with Nikes’ own strict workplace & environmental policies.

Complete with a performance rack configuration, rig attachments, lighting details, seamless flooring throughout and bespoke Swoosh competition bumper plates – this workplace facility really is breaking barriers.

“This new location is an amazing environment, with plans to positively impact on the community way beyond its perimeter walls.

This new strength and conditioning studio will play a pivotal role in supporting this dream.

Working with Miles Canning, Gregory Bradley and the rest of the BLK BOX team was an absolute joy and I'm super proud of the legacy that we have left for Nike Athletes* and of course our local London communities, who deserve a premium space to get inspired and work out in.”
